Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Ben from Wisconsin on Friday, November 4, 2016This is a great, high quality jacket from Columbia but for some reason the medium was too small, whereas a medium in other Columbia jackets I tried for well. Not sure why. Had to return.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Mountain Girl from Raleigh, NC on Wednesday, July 15, 2015My daughter thinks it's "cool" to not wear a coat in winter. BUT she is very name brand conscience, so Columbia won her over. Being summer she was sweating in the jacket but appears well insulated and true to size.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by sp1455 from Massachusetts on Tuesday, March 24, 2015This jacket is SO warm. I'm a wimp in the cold, but this jacket kept my body warm skiing with a -10 windchill.
The fit is slightly boxy and bulky due to the fill weight (100g), but it's totally worth it for the added warmth. The only thing that didn't fit quite right are the thumbholes in the cuffs - it felt like these were too short for my arms and in comparison to the length of the sleeves. If you have shorter arms, you won't have an issue, though the jacket itself will likely feel a little long in the sleeves.
I got the pink and though hesitant for such a bright color, I really like it. The groovy pink is a tasteful pink (no pepto or neon pink) and the texture of the fabric is quality.
Jacket has some great features, particularly the chest zipper and the placement of the pockets. Hood is warm but not helmet compatible. Inside lining is definitely warm. The drawcord at the hem is accessed through the pockets and helped make it a tighter fit and seal in the warmth.
For reference, I'm 5'5'' 135lbs 36b and the medium fit perfectly.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Happy Trails from San Diego on Friday, February 20, 2015It fits well, but I have not had a chance to try it on the slopes. The color of the jacket I received was different than depicted, it was pink instead of purple, but i can live with it.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Tara from Ohio on Friday, February 20, 2015I am not a fan of the cold and this jacket kept be very warm! I only had a tank top and regular long sleeve shirt on and I was warm in 15-20 degree weather. I like a tight fit so this was slight baggy for me but its good for going over layers. I am an extra small in shirts and the small fit just fine. Good quality, durable, comfy, warm and super cute! Great features for snow boarding.

“I typically wear a medium, however, with the sizing info, I am considering a large given the lower end of the sizing for a large at a size 12. Will I swim in it?”
hmm...I am normally an extra small and ordered a small for layers - I probably would have fit in an extra small with the layers...but the sleeves were just about right in the sense that there is the additional thumb hole in the inner lining that you can use. If you doing outdoor sports and like to layer then the large might be alright, if you will typically wear it around, then I would stay at a medium.... I hope that helps? I added a photo.
Zelda from Vermont-
I'll try to answer with my own sizing. While I usually order larger pants from Columbia (I usually wear a 6-8, so order an 8 in Columbia), I have found the tops are pretty true to size for my frame. This coat flares out a little to give room for a traditional women's figure (hip room) so I didn't need to size up. If you are smaller on the top than on the bottom like me, I bet you would be ok with a Medium, especially if you don't need to layer. Since Vermont is colder than it is here in Oregon, and you want to layer, you might be happier with the Large to accommodate a sweater or fleece comfortably. good luck!
I think this jacket runs a bit on the smaller side. I would order up especially if you plan on wearing a sweater or something heavy. I initially bought a small for my daughter but had to return it for a medium.
“What does "color: asst" in the drop down menu stand for? Does this come in a color other than the pink/purple seen here? thx.”
I think that just means that they will notify you when a new color arrives. Right now the only color that is available is the Pink.
I'm not sure, but I think it means "assorted colors", mine came in pink, I would have preferred purple, but I kept the pink, since the price was good!
Neen from Boston- that is a great question! I looked to see what you were talking about, and I am not sure- I would open up a chat with Sierra and see what they say. I've not seen that before! good luck.
It came in the color in the photo - very nice in person. I have gotten a lot of complements.
