3.5 stars: not for a full Minnesota winter

Well, it's not down. Was hoping this would be a super warm winter jacket but it comes in about average or slightly better. It is a pretty jacket with longish sleeves that generally fits well and looks great. But even with layers, I was cold in the upper chest and upper arms/sleeves at 20 degrees F with a 20 mph wind (which went right through it). The mid-lower torso seems warmer than the upper chest & arm areas. I have been wearing it to work but it would not 'cut it' for extended time (> 15 min) outdoors in the dead of winter, at least not in the Midwest. It is a little tight across the upper chest (about a half inch too tight, and I am smaller-chested). The hood fits great - enough room to slide over a cap. There is one long top-down zipper that cannot be opened from below, and no snaps over the zipper either. It fits fairly close to the body so there is a bit of room for layering but not tons. Wearing a thin windbreaker under it (over wool of course) would likely help on cold, windy days.
