Maybe my nose (bridge) is too small?

I was really disappointed when I tried these on. These are my first bifocal sunglasses (1.5) ever -- for reading when sitting outside. I tried them on, and tested out the bifocal feature. It was very strange. I had to really strain my eyes downward to even try to get my eyes into the line of vision to even try to decipher written material. I needed to force my eyeballs to look down really hard (not natural). Then, I lifted them slightly to align with my eyes to try a comfortable reading eye-ball-angle - - but all that happened was a weird double vision effect (where the bifocal meets the unmagnified lens). (Besides, I don't want to hold them for hours at a time.) I tried a few times to figure out how to get these to work for me. But, I give up. Needless to say, the overall fit of the frame is perfect for my face, and they could be nice and comfortable as regular sunglasses. My whole purpose was to use these to read outside. I think I don't want to pay for the shipping return, and might give them to someone as a present. Maybe I just don't know how to use bifocals, but something tells me that others may find the same frustration. Not sure. I bought these based on the positive reviews. I'd say my face is average size, and I think my nose is too.
