Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Verified Buyer Reviewed by LennieBackPacker from Washington on Sunday, March 12, 2017After my 5 mile hike in these boots, the Danner reputation for excellence has come into question. Much of this boot is of great design. But comfort in wear is of primary importance even if the boot has great traction and waterproof capabilities. The description of this boot in the advertisement is accurate. It does not say the tongue flap is poorly constructed and the stitching which connects the inner flap to the boot body will dig into your feet and cause pain as though a stones were placed between you and the boot. After only a few steps you will wonder why you would want to torture yourself.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by BigTim from San Diego on Tuesday, February 14, 2017So far seems to be a well built shoe but I find it lacking any arch support. Also, like some of the other reviewers mentioned, the tongue is too large and has rubbed raw a spot on the inside of my ankle, so I will also need to trim it a bit. Otherwise so far so good.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by redeyehawk from New hampshire on Thursday, December 8, 2016This boot will be useful for my purpose, woods walking. With these and another pair, Irish Setter Havocs (6"), I have had to slice out most of the gusset on either side of the tongue to make them comfortable. The intent of these gussets are to keep out debris and water . . . however when they fold over to fit in the shoe, the extra material bunches and renders the shoe uncomfortable. I do this with almost all my boots, I slice it out and also cut the seams and remove the ends of the gusset along the lace trim. Have not had any regrets doing this, I am very careful and patient as I perform the task.
I find these boots have a very high quality insole, quite thick and of good design, firm, yet soft enough to have a nice cushioning effect. I prefer the six inch to taller boots which tend to bind the upper ankle too much.
The boots overall are quite firm, I am a 11.5, 2E, but usually have to buy 12, 2E to get a good fit), I'll wear these with a medium thick hunting sock for great cushioning, warmth and support on uneven ground. After the adjustment I did, I am very happy with the fit, quality, toughness, and comfort of the Steadfast.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Halsey walker from Nebraska on Wednesday, September 14, 2016This is one nice pair of boots! It has fantastic arch support and was super comfortable as I walked for miles over rolling sandhills. The waterproofing was great as I was able to stand up in water that went up to almost the top of the boots. I bought these for a hunting trip out west and was really impressed with them over all. I beat them up for five days straight and they came out the other side perfectly fine! You can't beat these for the price, as this is the cheapest you will ever find Danners.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Old guy from PA on Tuesday, September 13, 2016Tongue gussets are sewn in backwards, so that the fabric doubles up between the shoe and your foot. Feels like a marble is stuck between you and the shoe. Couldn't wear it even for 5 minutes, both shoes. Compared it to my other Danners, and the construction is completely different.

The ones I have are not insulated, I think they may come in an insulated version. At any rate, they are the ones I use to shovel snow in and other outdoor chores here in southern NH. With medium weight wool socks I can be outdoors in 35 degree weather for a couple hours and still be warm enough. I am quite surprised they keep my feet warm being constructed of fabric and some leather. I generally do not buy insulated boots because of the extra bulk and these are actually warmer than the un-insulated leather ones I have. The fabric in the lower shoe is 2-3 layers thick, the ankle area is the same with foam padding to make it about 3/8-1/2" thick. The insole is much thicker than any other I have, overall a very comfortable boot. Two big toes up!
These boots are not insulated.
No, but they will keep your plenty warm on cool (65 degrees F and up) days. Great boots, really like them for walking long distances! Can't beat them for the price!!
