This has been a nice 'therapy product' for my son. Sharpening is very relaxing and he really enjoys it.

This is a handy sharpening set -- not too big, not too small. Great for throwing into a backpack to keep knives sharp in the backcountry. I really respect a good knife and this helps keep it in tip-top shape. Highly recommended.

The title says it all, really. It's an outstanding product for the price that your paying. The whetstone works well with any type of edge and cleans off well. The honing oil doesn't smell or leave any type of residue, as some cheaper oils do. The only real thing to take into consideration when buying this product is that you have to realize that the whetstone is relatively small and compact, as is the honing oil. This is it's own pro as it is a con. While it remains easy to pack up and take with you on the trail; It makes things a bit difficult if your attempting to sharpen larger items such as camp axes and katanas. Other than that, I have thoroughly enjoyed this product and used it to revive some of my old knives that I had retired due to loosing an edge. Great stuff

  • “What's the difference the translucent and soft stone”
Asked by Cesar from SC on 1/23/2017 6:26:26 AM
    • The difference is the grade of the stones. Soft stone is a medium stone and Translucent is extra fine. You can read the full descriptions here: http://www.danswhetstone.com/stone_grades_101.htm

About Dan’s Whetstone

Dan's Whetstones knife sharpeners are the ultimate tools for the ultimate edge. It's time to put that tired knife sharpener to bed. The consensus among knife owners is that the number one tool for sharpening knives is the Arkansas novaculite whetstone. Dan's Whetstones is your direct connection to these remarkable knife sharpeners. Arkansas novaculite whetstones are sharpening stones with a crystalline structure of individual quartz grains with voids and exposures of crystalline edges that result in the perfect knife sharpening structure. Hone your blades for intricate cutting tasks like skinning and field dressing, keep your edge while woodworking or fine tune your cutlery before preparing a meal. No matter the blade, edge or tool, Dan's Whetstones' soft, hard, translucent and black Arkansas novaculite stones shine as knife sharpeners that are a cut above the rest.
