These are very comfortable- VERY Comfortable. I'd say if I had no foot issues, they'd be awesome, right out of the box. You do have to get used to the strap a bit, as other reviews have said.
I've been trying every kind of shoe to get something wide enough for my toes and to allow for a little swelling that happens at the end of 9 hours on my feet at work. The Mary Jane style works; a tie up shoe does not.
I have a ruptured plantar fascia. I wore Keen Coranado Mary Jane shoes (orthodics worked easy in those) for the summer and needed a winter shoe. The Earth shoe is wide enough in the toe box, and has a nice curved bottom to help my step roll off better. My orthodic needed to be altered/carved on the bottom with these, as they have a hard arch, instead of being flat in the bottom like the Keen.
Once that was tweeked a little they are good to go.
