Verified Buyer Reviewed by WhiteHope from CA on Tuesday, May 9, 2017I use this solely for mountaineering, however there have been a few vertical mixed climb sections that the slight downward facing angle makes a huge difference.
The axe comes with insulated plastic tape, but it's doesn't wear well. It will peel when prolonged to cool conditions.
The undulation at the top make a nice palm grip.
Overall, couldn't beat the value for the price; would definitely recommend.
Reviewed by Trevor el Dragon from Virginia on Monday, February 13, 2017Used the 60 cm model on Mount Rainier last fall (I'm 5'11"). The axe performed wonderfully in glacier travel as well as simulated self arrest and crevasse rescue situations. The construction feels solid. This is a "technical (T)" rated axe, so it should work on more aggressive terrain, though I have not used it to climb extremely steep or vertical pitches.
