Awesome Shoes!

These are great shoes. I've tried on tons of brands and models in my search for a shoe I can leave on between pitches and most of them irritate my achilles or have dead space that causes my foot to slip around. The Luchadors are amazingly comfortable right out of the box and have performed very well... Read More

  • Not a bad shoe
Reviewed by gimmidealz from OR on Monday, March 5, 2018
I (female) wear 7.5-8 in street shoes and I remember being confused by the sizing offered here when I was buying these about a year ago.
I got the 7.5 size, what I think is men's 7.5, and I'm glad I did - incredibly, it is the right size for me.

I like my shoes tight, and I accept the breaking in period, especially with aggressive shoes like these, when your feet adjust to the curvature as well as the shape. I had a week or two of only being able to tolerate the shoes for half an hour or so. Then I/ the shoes adjusted to become uncomfortable only after a few hours of climbing AND belaying in them (it's the standing around in them that's most uncomfortable, but sometimes you just don't want to stop, y'know).

I would NOT recommend downsizing: go UP to be able to use these shoes.

The other issue with those is that they are very smelly: the upper synthetic material somehow retains moisture for up to several days after climbing. Kinda gross in the same way as when you have to put on a damp swimming suit: it's weird, prompts "rationality vs. icky" internal debate, and you stop caring as soon as you jump into the pool (=start climbing). They do smell because if this.
  • Pretty agressive shoes

I bought this same brand previously in a different style so I chose the same size, but they were way too tight. The back of the shoe pressed very hard into my Achilles and I couldn't wear them- I have down graded to a less aggressive shoe.
  • Nice shoes

I've only worn them in the kitchen so far. I wear a women's 7.5 (or 38) in normal shoes. In these, a 8.5 is probably right (hurts a little all the way around). These have a stiff sole that makes my feet feel supported (less stress on my big toe joint), and are wide enough for my wide fee.
  • Great!

These shoes are really great. They run a little small, however, they have really grippy rubber and fit well. A well made functional shoe.
  • Great shoes

These are my first climbing shoes that I have purchased. They are definitely a step up from the shoes you can rent from the indoor climbing shoes. They are very tight but work great!

  • “Are the sizes listed for this shoe US men's sizes or women's sizes?”
Asked by Haglund's Deformity from NY on 6/18/2017 7:17:51 PM
    • That's a good question. Because I'm a 10 street shoe size and my Luchadors are size 11, which is abnormal for a climbing shoe. However, I would confidently say those listed are closer to "men's" sizes than the alternative. I think I had to send back two pair before finding the right size.

    • I wear a women's 7.5 normally (eur 38) and I wear an 8.5 in these. First few times I've worn them they are squishing my toes, but otherwise the shoes are super comfy and I love them. They are good for wide feet.
