Performance- These climb amazingly well compared to my MadRock Demon shoes(a downturned performance shoe as well). They edge extremely well, and are the best heel hooking shoes I've worn. I feel very confide... Read More
Reviewed by First Time Adventure from Washington on Thursday, December 7, 2017After climbing for about 2 years with varies used shoes that I would get out of the bargain bin, these were my first new pair of climbing shoes. They were beasts! I wore these things down so much to the point where they were almost no longer recognizable, and yet they were still solid climbing shoes and definitely got the job done.
When I first got them, the rubber was excellent and the curve was perfect for finding small foot chips and using your foot to pull yourself in. And even though the heel is lacking in terms of grip, I rarely had an issue holding any heel hooks. But by far my favorite part of these shoes are their durability. I gym climbed in these consistently for nearly 3 years, even took them outside on occasion, and only got them resoled once! The top fabric held up nicely, the Velcro straps never seemed to get worn down and the only weak spot seemed to be the tip of the toe where I eventually got a hole.
The most common complaint about these shoes are that they tend to run a little bit small. I honestly think it relays more heavily on the shape of your foot because I typically wear 10.5 if Nikes and a pair of 10.5 Shaman were the perfect fit for me!
Ultimately, I would say you would be hard-pressed to find a shoe that is this aggressive and comfortable, while at the same time being incredibly durable. Now with the new Evolv Shaman (2016) out, the original versions are at a discounted price! So, if you can find them in your size get a pair…or two!

Verified Buyer Reviewed by Jray from Michigan on Thursday, June 15, 2017Seemed like really good for some more advanced climbing; deep heel cup, good pointed toe and a nice curve to the toe. They run pretty small though, I couldn't fit my toes in comfortably.
