ExOfficio Cosima Coat - Insulated (For Women)

As far as lightweight, packable coats go, this is a really nice one, Exofficio created another high quality piece with really great features. The color is a slightly heathered charcoal color, very close to what you see on the picture. This is nice, because it's neutral I'm not a huge fan of super shiny garbage bag looking coats. Plus this one hides dirt well because of that heathering. The hood is absolutely fantastic and adjusts super easily to keep you warm. The pockets are fully lined with fleece and there are additional pockets on the inside. The coat is nice enough that you could get away with wearing it to work or a slightly dressy event. The zippers work really well and the coat is also super light and quite warm. It would not be my first choice for the 5 degree days we've been having, but it is fine all the way down to the twenties if layered underneath with a fleece. It does run slightly small however, so size up if you want to layer underneath.

So why did I say "almost" perfect? Well, my husband told me that it looks unattractive and he almost never comments on the things I wear. I don't really agree with him, but it bothered me enough to contemplate returning it for a moment. The fit of the coat is slightly boxy and I wish there was a way to adjust the waist of the coat to create a more flattering fit. Unfortunately sizing down does not fix the issue.

In the end, I could not part with this coat, its features are that awesome. Did I mention that it is super comfy? At this price, the coat is an absolute steal!

This is what I was looking for, a coat for cold or cold/rainy weather but not for arctic conditions. It can be compacted to a small size and weighs almost nothing. The hood fits well and does not cover my face. Two-way zipper works well. Three inside pockets. The outside pockets have zippers but they are a little small and it is hard to get a gloved hand in. It would be nice if those pockets were a little bigger, of if there were hand warmer pockets a little higher on the coat.
The fit is fairly snug and I can't wear a fleece under it comfortably. However, a merino or cashmere sweater fits with room to spare. I tried the next size up but it really was way too big and I could not see with the hood on. I am 5'2" and 116 lbs and kept the Small.

I returned this as it was not flattering in the front chest and full bottom on me. Best to fit on someone who needs the room in the hips.

I ordered this coat for my mom. Good quality, soft shell, may run a bit small.
