Favorite coat I've ever bought

The more ExOfficio I buy, the more I love this brand. It is, I hope, like me-stylish, sporty, classy, practical, and functional to the nth degree. Okay, I'm not like that, but this coat is. It is lightweight, balls up small enough to pack, has a great waterproof feel but a very luxurious-looking fab... Read More

This trench is very lightweight, but versatile. Love all the interior pockets including one for your i phone. I hadn't realized that it has a shaped hem, but that makes it a bot more fashion forward. Excellent value.

More of an anorak than a trench, but still very nice. Slightly on the larger size, though, with sleeves a bit too long.

  • “Is this coat waterproof?”
Asked by Kat from Illinois on 2/9/2018 5:59:22 PM
    • It is weather resistant as stated by manufacturer. Google what the difference between waterproof & weather resistant is, and you will find a definitive explanation. Both types use the identical fabrics but different thread counts if you will. Unless you plan to be totally submerged in water for a long period of time, then no, if you are out in a rainstorm you will most likely stay dry.

  • “I usually wear a lg....should I order a med?? Do you have measurements for sizes??”
Asked by D.Klan from Ohio on 12/22/2017 1:03:13 PM
    • I ordered a large in order to layer under it and it was perfect. I'm 5'7" 148lbs and wear medium sometimes large.

    • I found it to be true to size. Don't order a size down, it's quite a trim cut. Great coat! I love wearing it. Not warm though.

    • I would order my usual size. I am a small in most brands and am happy with the small, I could wear a heavy sweater under the coat. At first I thought I could go down a size so I ordered the Extra Small and it was way too tight, couldn't zip it up. So I would recommend you go with your usual size, Large. Hope this helps.

    • I would ask why you need the large, not to be cheeky, but if, like me, you are tall, have broad shoulders, and orangutan arms, then this coat in a Medium is going to be great. The arms are nice and long, the hips are generous, shoulders are nice and roomy, and (thank goodness) it flares out and is long at the bottom, so your keester stays warm and dry. I am 5'10" and wear a 6-8 in most everything, larger sizes usually because I need the length.

If there is some other area that might need more room, like your decolletage (you wear a very generous bra size) or the waist, then this may not work for you. The coat is very fitted, and honestly, if I'm wearing a big bulky sweater, I would have a hard time getting mine on.

That being said, it is my absolute favorite coat: a trench, but not a big boxy voluminous king-sized sheet of a thing. The water proofing is good, even after I washed it (it came out looking great.) Hope this helps!

  • “Anywhere that I can find arm length on the sizes for this? I'm 5'6 and wear a size 4 pants, but 8 tops. I'm always in between small and medium, usually because the smalls can be snug on my broad shoulders. Does this run larger?”
Asked by Rachel from TX on 11/18/2017 5:42:31 AM
    • On the size large coat, the sleeve length from shoulder to cuff is 26". This is comparable to other jackets of the same size. There is a separate knit liner at the bottom of the sleeve and that liner and/or the sleeve itself can be cuffed back by 1-1/2".

    • I am 5'8" tall but wear a 16, so I don't know how useful this response would be to you. I often have had trouble with getting things with long enough arms, but this coat is generous in arm length. It is also quite form fitting, but I am comfy in the shoulders. It's a great coat, I love it -- and it's very attractive. Not warm enough for serious cold weather, but great for all and spring. Not waterproof, but water resistant. You can always send it back on STP's excellent return policy.

    • The small will be fine. I'm 5'5" and about 115 pounds. I usually wear size 4 pants, but medium tops because I have broad shoulders. I currently own this jacket in both a small and an XS and I can't decide which one to keep and which one to return. The XS fits fine, but the small will allow more room for layering, so that is probably how I will go.

  • “Can you tell me what the actual measurement of the sleeve (shoulder seam to cuff) for the XL are? (I have long arms....and saw they might run a bit short). Thank you. :O)”
Asked by Happy in Alaska from Sitka, Alaska on 10/8/2017 9:52:53 AM
    • I have long arms too and this coat is great for me. The under arm to cuff (easier to take than shoulder to cuff) measurement is 21" in the XL. But this coat is very light for Alaska. I am wearing it now as a fall coat in Western Oregon. It is very classy looking. The fabric is very soft. Haven't tried it yet in a downpour, but I think I would not -- would revert to waterproof shell.
