I bought this after much research on various sites. I decided to go with a little higher R value even though most of my use will be in Sept and Oct. For me, I'd rather have a little higher R value as compared to a small amount of extra weight. I didn't like the noise on some other pads that were rated high to avoid the chance it would wake me or my co-campers awake. I use a quilt so and sleep directly on the pad and after my first trip, I found the material to comfortable but I do sleep in a base layer usually so not directly against my skin. As long as I have a really level site, I did not slide off the pad and I do move around a lot while sleeping. Packs smaller that a similar pad I have and the tapered design to me is an efficient way to shave some weight and did not impact my sleep. Best price I found was on STP so I'm extremely please on every aspect of this purchase.
