great quality; roomy torso

Lightweight jacket that is more wind-resistant due to the waxed treatment of the cotton outer fabric. It's not smelly or saturated looking like most waxed cotton, and not like Tin Cloth at all. This wax finish leaves the 100% cotton a little shiny and it feels more like nylon twill, as least new out of the box. This treatment may also result in a warmer--less breathable--jacket too but hard to tell in the summer so far.
Quality feels excellent, quality fabric, even, close stitching, good seams, no puckering; everything seems top notch. Whatever changes they made, as listed in another review, seem like good changes. On a classic bomber jacket style like this you don't want a two-way zipper--a simple brass zipper that starts at the bottom looks right and works right on a short jacket. The internal wind flap is exactly the right width as are the cuff openings which have a nice detail but do not need to be adjustable for the classic bomber jacket design. The rayon lining is silky and makes the jacket go on and off easily without adding bulk; you could have an inside pocket but it would have to hang from the rayon lining unless you sewed the lining to the front of the jacket.
The big pockets all around the lower half of the jacket are an unusual style that somehow looks classic anyway, sort of a cross between a bomber jacket and a game jacket. These big pockets may explain the extra room in the lower half of the jacket--game jackets usually have this extra room and bit fit where the game pockets are. Like other reviewers mentioned, this jacket has a more roomy torso than you'd expect for a bomber jacket--sleeve and shoulder in the right places and roomy through the body and waist. Filson sizing for work clothes usually has this roomy fit.
