You can't go wrong with Shinola quality backed by the Filson name. I loved it right out of the box

  • Sweet Watch!

Great timepiece, the pheasants will be mesmerized by the quality when you wear it in the field. The nylon stap can easily be replaced with a leather band for a dresser look. It's very cool that this watch is a collaboration with Shinola. Great Value! Oh, it's a heavy watch, which I like.

  • Nice watch, but not exactly as advertised

So, overall I’m happy with this purchase. I was drawn in by the “Made in America” claim. To be fair it does also state in the description that it is “assembled in Detroit” which is the more accurate of the two statements. I did some research and discovered that Shinola, the company that actually produced this watch for Filson was forced to change the wording to be more forth right with the consumer. It’s assembled in the United States of foreign components including China. It is employing people in Detroit which is a city that could use some help so kudos to Shinola for that.
To be fair I knew all of this prior to ordering the watch and did so with the full knowledge that there was some misinformation being forged.
That being said, I like the style of the watch. It seems to be well made and somewhat heavy. It could very well be a tank, but I can’t speak for the ruggedness of the construction since I’ve only had it a short time. One other inaccuracy in the discription is that it’s a chronograph. It does say that it’s a “dual time” in one area and also reads “chronograph:yes” further down. It’s a dual time watch. Which enables you to quickly and easily set a second time zone using the two smaller dials. A nice feature for those who travel regularly and require that feature or if you just enjoy the complications of the movement(Which is generic). The Argonite-4220 is just another attempt to mislead the consumer.
The watch has a nice look and is comfortable so if you’re okay with spending $300 on a watch that is basically a fashion statement then I encourage you to do so. Especially since Shinola has discontinued the Scout model. It certainly isn’t worth the $850 retail price, but for 3 bills I can live with it. It’s a good everyday watch and I hope that it stands the test of time. This is in no way a reflection on STP. They are just offering you a overpriced watch for what it should have cost in the first place.
  • Good watch

  • “I bought this watch, and I generally like it, but i cannot understand the strap system. It seems bizzare the way it was set up out of the box and the manual provides no instructions. Can someone let me know how to adjust the strap?

    Thanks”

    • I’m not sure what you mean exactly, but if it’s too long? I believe it’s made so that you can double the end of the strap back through the the loops that are closest to the watch case. For me it was just the right length. The end of the strap came up to where it was barely touching the case, and that was fine with me.

    • It is what is called a NATO strap. A brief search online should clear up your questions.

    • Thanks Folks - NATO Straps on YouTube answered it perfectly. I have reverted from thinking it was stupid to thinking it is brilliant. Much appreciated!!!
