3.0 out of 5 stars. Not the sameVerified Buyer Reviewed by Girl who hikes from Oregon on Tuesday, April 10, 2018I have been buying “guide tennies” for many years. This time they are not the same. They are really stiff and clunky. The shoelaces are slick and need a double knot to stay tied. Im not to stoked on taking them on long approaches after the first few times my feet still hurt at the end of the day. They do have the nice 5.10 rubber on them but, the over all shoe is not comparable to older models.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Very sturdy and sticky, but quite heavyVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Houston on Monday, April 2, 2018Very stiff to out of the box, so there's a bit of a break-in period. Once they see some use and the sole and the uppers loosen up, they're very comfortable. Very protective all around the foot and a very sticky outsole. The thickness of the exterior and the stiffness of the sole actually help protect your feet a lot more than some of the more lightweight options -- perfect for desert climbing where all the plants and creatures are out to stab you. Of course this also means that the shoes are quite heavy and not very breathable. I really struggled walking around in loose sand and gravel because of how heavy and stiff they were, but they managed to keep sand and gravel out surprisingly well. They were very nice and cozy for 40-60 degree weather, but I don't think I would wear them in the summer.
No real complaints so far, they're exactly what I expected them to be. -
4.0 out of 5 stars. These aren't pure hiking shoesReviewed by Anonymous from Arizona on Sunday, March 18, 2018For all of you leaving comments about them being small, stiff, and wearing out quickly, please keep in mind that these are likely hybrid rock climbing shoes and not every day wear shoes. If you are not climbing rocks, this probably isn't the pair for you. Being hybrid shoes, they should be tight, stiff, and wear quickly. Its the nature of and what is needed of this style of shoe. Given they are labeled as "Hiking Shoes" is somewhat inaccurate. Hybrid Climbing and Hiking Shoes would be more accurate.

3.0 out of 5 stars. Great fit but I wore out the treads pretty fastReviewed by Janhuge from PA on Sunday, February 25, 2018I loved these shoes at first. This style of shoe is perfect for me to wear to work (building and installing cabinets), so I wore them at work only. The rubber on the bottom is pretty hard compared to other shoes like them and the mark floors easily. For some reason I usually get a lot of mileage out of my shoes, but not with these. I wore the treads off in about half the time I would’ve expected to. My shop floor is polished concrete so it’s not particularly rough.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Five Ten Guide in "Nightshade"Verified Buyer Reviewed by Jen from Nevada on Saturday, February 17, 2018They're a hair big for me but I appreciate the toe room. I also like the magenta stitching on this dark gray shoe. I have yet to test how "sticky" they are on scrambles.

5.0 out of 5 stars. reviewVerified Buyer Reviewed by hoosier hiker from indiana on Thursday, October 26, 2017Good shoe. Well made. However, has a very stiff sole that does not bend with your foot. I am hoping that it will loosen up a little over time. Good on rough terrain.
