It's amazingly warm and light

I absolutely love my new Keb down jacket. I live in Alaska where it's routinely -20 F (-30 C) or colder in the winter. I've always just worn lots of layers under a thin shell jacket unless it's extremely cold or extremely cold and windy. After 20 years in Alaska I thought I'd try a new approach. It's amazing to walk outside in the morning with a thin thermal shirt under this coat and feel nothing. It's like an impenetrable layer against the cold. I"m 6'4" 196 lbs, 41" around chest, 16 1/2" neck, fairly wide shoulders and long arms. Arm length is perfect, chest is a little large which I expected, but leaves me plenty of room to layer a thick wool sweater for extended cold weather outings. I considered a Large and it probably would've fit but every other coat I own is an XL so even knowing that Fjallraven usually is made for tall people I purchased the XL and am happy with the fit. It's very lofty probably about 2" of puff, has big deep front pockets, a great fitting adjustable hood, and the built in suspenders will be handy when shoveling in the cold. We volunteer to put in Denali Base Camp in the spring and this is definitely coming with me this year. This weight to warmth ratio on this coat is the finest I've ever owned. I do have an old Comfy expedition coat that I've used for extreme cold situations but it's so heavy that I often didn't bring it. This coat is now part of my essential survival gear. I own other Fjallraven gear and all are extremely well made. My Swedish roots must have given me the perfect body size for their clothing. Think long and lean versus short and round when thinking of the ideal Fjallraven body type and you won't be disappointed. Have a great Winter and stay warm out there.
