haven't used it yet, but is a perfect fit for our 12 year old daughter (she is 58 inches tall).
Comfy on her back and we were pleasantly surprised by the built in emergency whistle on the chest strap - very cool

  • Great pack for young backpackers
Reviewed by Casey from Montana on Saturday, March 17, 2018
I bought this for my daughter when she was 9. She's used it for two seasons now on several 3-5 mile backpacking trips and she'll still be able to use for at least another year or two. The quality is impressive, it's built every bit as well as adult packs and fully-featured. I couldn't be happier with this purchase, and the STP price is unbeatable.
  • Great for 8!
Reviewed by Josh from Smokies on Sunday, March 31, 2013
I got this pack for my daughter, who is about to turn 8. We took it on a two-night, 16 mile trip. Last summer we tried a one-night using my adult daypack. She didn't want to carry it at all, even nearly empty, because it was uncomfortable and floppy. With this well-fitting pack, she carried 12 pounds on her 60 pound frame the whole way in comfort. It looks like the pack will fit her body for a few years due to its adjustability. However, I think she may outgrow the capacity before the suspension. A 20 degree bag, Thermarest, and warm clothes for two nights basically filled it to capacity. If you want your child to be able to carry gear as well, compression sacks may be in order.

About Deuter

Deuter backpacks and hydration packs have set the industry standard for quality, durability and innovation since the company was founded in Germany more than 100 years ago. Deuter packs accompanied mountaineers on early Himalayan expeditions, and Deuter backpacks were used on the first successful climb of the north face of the Eiger in 1938. Deuter introduced the first bike-specific hydration pack in 1990. Today, Deuter backpacks and hydration packs are available in a variety of sizes and models, with many offering customizable suspension systems.
