I picked these out as a replacement for another pair of Garmonts I returned because the soles wore out in six months.

To Sierra Trading Post’s credit, the return and subsequent repurchase were super easy.

I’ve been a Garmont hiking shoe wearer for years. This pair is a departure from my expectations of Garmont so far.

They’re by far the coolest looking pair of Garmonts I’ve ever had but at the cost of functionality.

Until I put some Superfeet Insoles in them, I had the same slipping issue as the other reviewer here.

My main issue though is with their stability. I’ve turned my ankles while wearing them more times than I can remember the count. I think it’s a design flaw attributable to the fashion look. There is no wrap around the midsole exposing it around the entire shoe above the outsole. In my opinion, it gives the shoe a less bulky look, but also makes the footprint narrower than if the midsole had been wrapped. It looks stylish but a wrapped midsole would be wider and therefore more stable. I wouldn’t recommend these shoes to anyone unless they were more into form than function.
  • Love Garmont shoes, but
Reviewed by Appy Hiker from Virginia on Tuesday, October 3, 2017
The shoes are lighter and the material thinner than I expected from my previous pair of Garmont hikers(which I loved and still holding up after three years!) But I was okay with this until I tried the new pair out by walking around the block. Much to my disappointment, the insole in one of the shoes slips to the back after about five minutes of light walking. And continued slipping after putting it back in place. A obviously defect, and not what I’d expect from a quality manufacturer like Garmont. What a bummer. Hopefully my return process will go smoothly...
