I usually wear trail runners for quick hikes, but hiking boots still have their place. These are comfortable boots..burly, but not quite heavy as traditional, all leather ones. Size was spot on for me..same size as i wear in most running shoes. Toebox is roomier than most true hiking boots i had in the past. Some might not like the rounded roomier toe, but i liked the extra room. Heel still seems secure when laced up well, great on descending, and midfoot and arch nice and snug. The vibram sole is excellent, just enough softness to the rubber to give great grip on all surfaces, but doesn't seem like it'll give out or blow out any too soon. Waterproofness has proven itself, yet these breathe decently well. This is a good, well rounded hiker. I've worn this on a couple of decent hikes as well as several times to work this winter. Not a ton of padding in the collar and shaft. This helps 'feel' and a sense of maneuverability, but some may prefer a bit more padding or the plush memory foam found in others. These have taken a bit of breaking in there for me.
