I recently hiked one of Colorado's numerous 14ers wearing these boots and they were up to the task. I had previously only worn them on a easy 3 mile hike so this was their real break-in hike. They were comfortable for the full hike, especially for a brand new pair of boots. The toe box is roomy and sturdy, protecting my toes from numerous impacts, and the ankle support is also excellent. I tested the Gore-tex waterproofing by standing in a creek for several minutes, the Gore-Tex performed as expected and kept my feet completely dry. The trail had multiple types of footing from packed dirt to granite boulders. The boots performed great on all surfaces, providing excellent grip on the granite and enough bite to keep from slipping on the loose gravel. I also found the boots to be well ventilated, my descent was in 70+ degree sun and my feet didn't feel sweaty at all. I'd highly recommend these boots to anyone looking for uninsulated boots that can handle it all.
