Garmont Zenith - good for my tough life

Garmont Zenith, replacing old Garmont Eclipse III GTX.

Followed previous review and ordered half size up. Good advice.
Waited a year for these to be in STP stock again, worth the wait after trying several other brands: Oboz, Aku.... Garmont makes a tough shoe that I need, My Eclipse's lasted too long (10+yrs).

A con might be the Zenith don't have quick lacing eyelets at the top so they're laced like a sneaker and so take considerably more effort to get on and off. Shoes have that lace wrapped around shoe but it's not like you can tighten up the heels at all..would prefer quick eyelets at top.

Good heal support and a roomy toe box. Hoping the mesh helps in warmer months...wet disc golf romps, long hikes with the dogs, and when they get 'used' they become carpenter job-site work shoes worn daily.

The break-in is more like waiting for the hyper-puffy ankle padding conforms a bit. Very puffy padding around heel/ankle..possibly way too much but not a con.

I'd say that half-size up is just about right. (Consider older Garmont sizing used to be 1.5 sizes up to fit, these are revolutionary.)

I like the toughness and the comfy padded shoe, working well after about a week. Not lightweight, not form-fitting, not too cool in summer, overall super and I'm pleased. Garmont is good for me.
Cheers.
