Not too thick or thin. Just right.

This sock has all the qualities that I was looking for at less than half the cost of Smartwool and other merino performance socks. I needed a merino wool for its great wicking and comfort characteristics. I also wanted moderate cushioning(loops)on both the instep and sole, and its hard to find this combination on most socks now. I think that the manufacturers just leave the comfort of the instep to the tongue of the shoe, but most shoes have thin tongues as well. This sock has it all, is made well, smooth toe seams, great softness, the right height for daily causual wear, and for light hiking. If I were more of an avid hiker, I would choose the heavy cushioned version, if it was available through Sierra Trading where it pays to save $
