Reliable and biodegradable

I had always detested the wastefulness of handwarmers, but finally gave in after too many days of working outside in the cold in situations where I need to take gloves off for dexterity. In extreme cold, once your hands get painfully cold, it can be almost impossible to warm them up, and these are the best remedy. Once back in the truck, they also work great to warm up cold feet if you place them between your thighs next to your femoral arteries, which is useful since insulated boots keep feet cold long after sticking them under the heater. Usually they're still warm when I get home and they feel REALLY good as a heat pad on your neck or lower back.

I have yet to have a "dud," and they warm up in about 15-20 minutes after opening. In mittens or pockets, they last longer than the 7 hours.

For some reason they're cheaper to buy in a 3-pack, but you get more plastic/warmer than in a 10-pack since they come in an over-sized plastic bag.

Also perform well vs. other hand warmers:

Give more hours of heat, are more reliable and don't have the strong odor of a butane hand warmer.

Stay warm longer, less maintenance, and weigh less than the re-usable handwarmers with the "click discs."

I keep a good stock of these in my backpack and vehicle during the winter, and they've made several cold weather outings much more enjoyable.
