These really aren't Gramiccis...

I originally wore Gramicci pants in the 1990s, and they were great. They were a little more dressy than sweatpants, but a little more athletic than jeans, and they lasted for years and years. They were the perfect weekend pants for cool outdoor activities. (At that time they were made in the U.S.A.--California, I think.)

Flash forward 20 years, and you'll find that the "Gramicci" pants are now simply made-in-China junk. They tend to fit a little strange--the front now sort of "poofs out" as if they were pleated. The material is much more stiff--now they really feel like plain ol' denim jeans, more or less. And the quality has gone to (heck)--I now get about a year out of a pair of Gramiccis.

Foolishly, I bought 3-4 pairs during the last year or so, and some are already wearing out. The hem on one pair has shredded, and the velcro rear pocket closure has torn out in another pair after a couple of months.

If these were twenty-dollar pants from, say, Target, okay fine. However, why would anyone pay forty or fifty or sixty dollars for these ill-fitting, poor-quality pants now days?

If Gramicci would bring back that original quality--even if the pants were a hundred bucks--I'd buy them in a heartbeat. But now, well, "Gramiccis" don't really exist.
