I am >50 and wanted some nice casual pants in lieu of jeans and these are perfect. I was concerned that they are pull on and mistakenly thought I needed the size Large to compensate for the lack of a zipper but found that I was mistaken. I am a size 12/14 (pear shape)and found the size Medium was a... Read More

Pants are super comfy with plenty of room to move. I'm 5' 6", 125 lbs - small fits me fine. I think they'll work equally well for meditation and hiking. They're heavier than the tek fabrics, but soft and well-constructed. They look like they'll last a long time. :-)

My all time favorite pants are 100% cotton pleated khakis in traditional fit made by GAP. Unfortunately those khakis are no longer made. I was also beginning to think I would never find 100% cotton pants ever again until I found these. Now, they are totally different from the previously mentioned pants, but I do like these. 1) they are 100% cotton 2) they are very comfortable 3) they have DEEP front pockets (which I love). There is only 1 negative hence the 4 stars and that is the belt. It will not stay straight inside the waistband and there is no way (that I know of) to straighten it, but it's not enough to keep me from buying them. I own 5 pair of them and they should last for a while b/c they are made of nice heavy cotton. I am 5'4" and weigh 129 lbs. I get a size small and they are roomy. I think the Xsmall would be a closer fit, but I'm not sure if I could get them over my hips. Besides, at my age (58), I like the room. They aren't stylish, but they are comfortable and that's what I like. I wear them with a t-shirt (not tucked) and an over shirt. It is so nice to have a pair of pants that do not have a 2-inch zipper, covers my rear, is 100% cotton, and comfortable! I would highly recommend giving them a try. AND if you really have to have the stretch this company also makes those too.

Have used this style pant from Gramicci for years. Over that time period, the company's product has swerved with almost unbearable inconsistencies with sizing, quality of manufacture, and "style" (allegedly same pants, but actually quite dramatic changes). Still best cotton pants for everyday rough and tumble, especially rock climbing.

With this last order, my 3 pairs were "right on" with quality manufacture, sizing, and met my expectations of what Original G pants should be.

Very comfortable. Easy to wash. I line dry since I live in New Mexico where we have lots of sun.

I have never worn this brand before, but read the reviews and took a chance. I love the fabric and the fit. I bought a medium because the reviews said that these pants run generous. I wear a size 12 and they fit beautifully. Very comfortable and a nice alternative to jeans.

  • “Are the gramicci original gndourada pants cotton twill straight leg for women pants truly straight leg? The description says they are tapered and the photo looks like a boot cut. ”
Asked by GAPat from Georgia on 1/14/2017 4:24:32 PM
    • Definitely tapered all the way down from a generous hip--originally for climbing, so roomy in the knee with nothing too easily caught at the ankle (does not taper to knee, then fall straight). Hangs more like the leg on the left in the pic, not the right. The leg opening accommodates a boot, although the length is not intended for a heel. Not currently fashionable. (Love 'em.)
Answered on 1/14/2017 4:55:56 PM by KB from MT
    • They are not tapered at all, I would have preferred that. The belt is also too short for my taste - I have it extended all the way out.

    • Not a real straight leg and a little baggy in the seat. Comfortable though for traveling.

    • Kind of a dark grayish green.

    • The color is a light stone/beige colour. I actually wash them with whites and bleach, that is how light coloured they are. Not see through, just lighter beige/stone coloured.

  • “Can someone please describe the "Pebble Grey" and "Shale" colors? I don't know if I can trust what I see online. (I ordered "French Khaki" and received "Beach Khaki". "Beach Khaki" does not match what I see online. "Beach Khaki" is a yellow color. It is a cross between yellow mustard and brown mustard.) ”
Asked by BellasMomToo from San Francisco on 6/28/2015 8:11:26 PM
    • I received two different grey colors when I recently ordered "Pebble Grey". One was a warm medium grey; it leans a tiny bit toward green. I returned the other pair, but if I'm remembering correctly, it was a cooler medium gray, leaning a bit toward blue; what I consider a true gray color. I remember liking the cooler grey better, but landed keeping the warm grey pair due to size issues. I really do like the color, but I don't wear anything grey with them. I have not ordered "Shale". I also ordered two "French Khaki" and received two different colors. I've been wearing Gramicci for decades and don't get too hung up on the colors if I can get something to fit well.

    • Pebble grey is actually more of a very faded khaki green. It doesn't look grey at all. But the faded green is a nice color too and so it wasn't a problem. I've just ordered a pair in "shale" and am also wondering about what color I'll actually get.
Answered on 6/29/2015 6:19:19 AM by JC from Tennessee
    • I went ahead and ordered both the Pebble Grey and Shale. They are basically the same color -- both are a grey with slightly different tints. The only real difference is the Grey has a black ribbon and the Shale has a pink-ish ribbon. I also ordered "Fresh Ink". The color is a nice, bright blue, but not as vibrant as it appears online.

    • I believe ebony color is an extremely dark, dark brown color bordering on black. Black is all black and the ebony is more like black w/ a hint of dark brown. Hope that helps. This color would be beautiful with any rust colored or vanilla/cream colored tops I think!

  • “Do pants with a longer inseam length have a longer rise (crotch to waist)? I ordered XS 29 length and they fit fine around the waist and hips but the crotch is a bit tight when sitting. I'm trying to decide whether to try the XS 31 length or move up a size to S. ”
Asked by Urban Walker from San Francisco on 3/23/2015 1:11:37 AM
    • I'm sorry, but I really have no clue! I think maybe men look at pants this way. Women generally go with waist size and length!
Answered on 3/23/2015 9:06:32 AM by cyn from KY
    • In general the rise does not change.
Answered on 3/23/2015 10:13:38 AM by Product Specialist Greg from Company Headquarters
    • I tried XS in the 29", 31" and 33" inseams, and they all have a similar rise. But there is some variation even within a given inseam. The gusset width seems to be what varies the most, but by no more than 1/2". The slightly wider gussets made the difference for me. The rise on the SM is about 1" longer than the rise of the XS, although the gusset width was about the same. After trying ten XS in varying inseams and ten SM all in 31" inseam, I found two XS and and 4 SM that fit comfortably.
