Definitely tapered all the way down from a generous hip--originally for climbing, so roomy in the knee with nothing too easily caught at the ankle (does not taper to knee, then fall straight). Hangs more like the leg on the left in the pic, not the right. The leg opening accommodates a boot, although the length is not intended for a heel. Not currently fashionable. (Love 'em.)

They are not tapered at all, I would have preferred that. The belt is also too short for my taste - I have it extended all the way out.

Not a real straight leg and a little baggy in the seat. Comfortable though for traveling.
