A back pocket!

I've had a pair of Grammici straight-leg pants for over 5 years of regular wear, and they are only now beginning to look a little frayed along the hems. These ones (I ordered the black) have a large back pocket with a velcro fastener, in addition to the 2 side pockets. For the back pocket alone, I already love these pants. There is also an annoyingly scratchy tag sewn to one of the pocket linings (it was given some sort of fake "antique" treatment to make it extra scratchy), which I'm going to have to pick loose. But once I do that, these will be perfect. One other difference from the recent models: The back waistband has an open section where you can see the belt. Very 1980s, but I tend to wear these with a big shirt untucked over the top, so no one will see the waist, when 80s retro is no longer the in thing. As others have said, these pants are not going to make you look svelte. If I had to guess, I'd say they add 5 pounds visually. I don't care. It's pretty clear that I am wearing bulky pants, not that I have gained weight (in contrast, think of bad stretchy pants over incompatible underwear--these are the opposite). They will let you bend and squat without any gapping or chafing, and they are the only sturdy "jeans-like" pants I can sit indian style in without splitting a seam or losing circulation. Wearing heavy long johns underneath is no problem, and since they are rivet-free, airport scanners are not bothered. I was worried in my first pair about the plastic belt clasp, but it has lasted for 5 years without cracking.
