Would only recommend this hat for use in temperate weather.

(She has a lot of hair, which is a problem with some hats.) It worked great, and she used it with a neck gator to keep her head nice and toasty. I ended up buying another one for my 9-year-old, who also likes it (although she prefers to wear it alone.)

It's warm and it does its job but I like it because it of the ability to tie it onto my daughter's head. Fashionably, I know the straps are supposed to dangle but my daughter is almost 8 and a little tomboy-y. Unless the hat can be tied down, the hat will come off her head so this hat suits my needs. We don't use it skiing because she has a helmet.
