Useless zipperVerified Buyer Reviewed by skimom from Ohio on Wednesday, October 18, 2017This bag arrived with a broken zipper--even after it was pulled closed, the teeth separated. Beautiful bag but useless if it wouldn't stay shut!
Poorly made zippersVerified Buyer Reviewed by Greenmachine from Colorado on Wednesday, September 13, 2017Zipper for main compartment separated 2nd day into a week long trip to the Alps. Stitching that holds zipper on came loose. Didn't like that name card was viewable whenever pull Handel was extended. Barely made it back home with the clothes I brought. Returned and bought a Dekine bag.
Bad zipperReviewed by Cleveland Traveler from Cleveland on Sunday, March 5, 2017I was excited when this suitcase arrived. It is attractive and very lightweight. It looked like the perfect carryon bag. I did notice the zipper action wasn't entirely smooth, and initially thought it would be ok. Unfortunately, when I went to pack for my trip which is in 2 days, I discovered that the zipper was entirely stuck and wouldn't move at all! After several attempts I got it to move a little bit, but there's no way this will stand up to the frequent travel I do for work, and I don't need or want the hassle of wondering if my suitcase will open or close. This could be a defect just with the bag I received, however now I am stuck having to go out and buy a different bag on short notice. Big disappointment.
Nice carry onVerified Buyer Reviewed by nilejam from Washington on Monday, January 30, 2017I wanted a smaller bag with out the spinner wheels. I have only used once for a local trip, Getting ready fro a trip to the other Washington next month. Zipper sturdy but initially a bit stiff (5th star), otherwise it seems pretty nice.
Light and TiltyReviewed by Marcio from San Jose, CA on Thursday, December 22, 2016The bag is indeed very light, good-looking and, for the price, materials are reasonable.
There is a serious problem, though. As the photo indicates, it stands at an angle. With the bag empty, if you extend the handle it barely stands (it tends to tip over the wheels). If you pack normally (i.e. you open the bag and put heavier things first) the center of gravity is outside the base and the suitcase will not stand on its own. For it to work, you need to make it heavier towards the bottom and away from the wheels. Bottom line: looks good but doesn't work.
Great carry on!Reviewed by Boston Bob from Boston on Monday, November 21, 2016I bought this to replace an older piece of luggage that no longer qualifies as a carry on item on many airlines. I shopped for weeks... looking in various luggage shops, department stores, discount stores, etc. I finally narrowed it down to this bag and a Ebags Mother Lode Mini 21". While the EBags had more features this bag was 1/2 the price so I took a chance. The Granite Gear bag may be more basic but it does what it needs to do. On the outside there are two pockets... one small lined pocket big enough to fit a large phone or even a small tablet and a larger pocket that runs the length of the bag, good for magazines or even a light rain jacket (I was able to fit both). Inside there there are two compartments, the smaller (upper if you will) includes a zipped divider that can either separate it from the larger compartment or can be rolled out of the way to make one larger compartment. I recently took this on a trip to Houston and the big seemed to be very well built and rolled nicely. I was so impressed that I may even buy the matching back pack. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. If you want a basic carry on that is well built without breaking the bank this is it. WIth a SIerra sale price you can't beat it! I am looking forward to getting years of service from this bag.
