Question & Answer

“Is this jacket a 'soft-shell?' Does it have pit zips and an internal powder skirt? Looking at this for my wife for backcountry skiing.”
The Haglofs Ridge Windstopper® Jacket is an Active Shell. An Active Shell is the lightest, most packable garment that Windstopper offers( very similar to a soft shell). It does not have pit zips or a powder skirt. I hope this helps.
“Hello, Can this be used in the rain and/or as an outer layer for skiing? I see that it's listed as water-repellent but not waterproof. Thank you.”
The Haglofs Ridge Windstopper® Jacket does have the ability to repel water and it could be worn on warmer ski days
“What is the difference between this jacket and the Haglofs Talus Windstopper® Jacket - Soft Shell (For Women) ??? Is one more water resistant than the other??? Thanks”
The Talus is Nylon and the Ridge is Polyester with a PTFE membrane, they have different pockets, they both have simular water resitent properties. The Talus is 2 inches longer.
“Just wondering if this jacket is to be worn alone in winter or should you wear a fleece underneath to keep warm in Wisconsin winters?”
This is just a shell and would not be warm enough to be worn alone.
