Reviewed by Stewie from Pennsylvania on Monday, November 17, 2014Yes the top is cotton and not waterproof, but this is not a bivy. It protects my sleeping bag and provides added insulation, which is what I wanted.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Bill from CA on Thursday, October 30, 2014While I have not yet tried it in the field it appears to be an excellent value for protecting your sleeping bag, adding a bit of warmth, and a way to keep from sliding off your sleeping pad.
No issues with packaging or delivery.
Reviewed by mountain girl from lake tahoe on Thursday, May 8, 2014This is a nice cover but the material on top was just cotton and not water resistant at all. I was hoping to find something that was coated throughout to protect from dew as well as ground moisture. I returned mine.

Yes the material is different with the bottom appearing to be waterproof. I have not had a chance to try this yet in the field
Yes, the materials are different. The top is cotton, but the bottom is as described in the advertisement: polyurethane coated nylon. Yes the bottom is waterproof. I have held it under running water for several minutes and the inside stays dry. Holding the top under running water results in a wet top, however.
No. There is no side zipper.
