My hand measures 7.5" girth, and 7.5" long from tip of middle finger to base of palm/start of wrist. I ordered a size 9 in this glove and the Hestra mitten. Apparently Hestra 9 fits my 7.5 in strong, female hand (climbing and lifting). I can fit this glove and mitten over a liner. I like a "little" ... Read More

  • “Sizes 6-7-8-9-10-11 which is considered large”

    • Hestra has a pretty good guide on selecting the best size - see their website for guidance. It is simple and only takes a minute to measure your hand. I would say 9 is normally a large, but probably a 10 in this model. I normally wear xl/xxl and wear an 11 in gloves but they fit snugly.

    • My hand measures 7.5 girth, 7.5 length (longest finger to end of palm). I ordered the size 9 for a little extra space around the fingers. The Hestra 9 in both this glove AND the mitten fits my hand comfortably, with a slight amount of finger space. My hands are average sized, but strong. I wear a woman's large in gloves and mitts, or a men's medium. As for the size 9 I ordered in this glove and mitten, they are not too large for my 7.5 inch hand; however, when I curl my hand around a ski pole or ice ax (or bridle/riding reins, when I retire them from backcountry use) I do have some extra finger space. I fit my gloves and mittens this way because I have learned that if my glove "fits like a glove", I get cold fingers. Also, with the size 9, I can wear a super thin liner if necessary (but only thin as silk). I use these gloves for ski mountaineering/mountaineering, in wet conditions in the North Cascades and Canada. If you want a size large equivalent, try ordering the 10 and/or the 11, and see what you think. I would guess that the 9 is similar to a Men's medium.

    • According to Hestra sizing information men's large would be size 9 and women's large would be size 8.

    • I would say the 9 or 10 I got the ten In another hestra glove. I have a 11 which has stretched and is now a little too big. Hope this helps. Stewart
