Perfect for Scotland vacation

I was looking for a light-weight, versatile shoe that could go from walking the city to hiking to--in-a-pinch--out to dinner. This pretty much fits the bill. The traction is substantial. As a slip-on, it doesn't scream "hiking boot." With its low heel and not-too-bulky toe box, I'm hoping I may even... Read More

Very nice well made comfortable shoe for a fantastic price!

I’m usually a 7.5 or an 8. The 8 was rubbing the tip of my toe.
They would have been very comfy otherwise.

Beautiful color (plum). They are reasonably comfortable, but I had to go up 1/2 size so they aren't as wide as I normally get.

A little bit hard to pull on, even with the tab. I have to use a shoe horn.

But overall I like them and they're comfortable enough to wear for hours, including walking.

I was searching for an easy shoe to travel with. One I could hike in, eat out, and slip on and off easily for airports. I think this one does it! Great traction, easy on and off, and looks nice. Fits true to size. I wear 8 1/2 or 9, got the 9 and have plenty of room. Only my feet are a bit sore when I take them off. But they're keepers!
  • Nice shoe

I wasn't sure I wanted to keep these at first because they look big and clunky. However, I decided to wear them downtown where I walked several miles and they were very comfortable. They are a nice alternative to sneakers.

  • “Are these shoes waterproof?”
Asked by Door County Girl from Wisconsin on 2/9/2018 9:30:45 AM
    • These shoes are not waterproof.
Answered on 2/9/2018 9:42:19 AM by Product Specialist from Sierra Trading Post
    • No, they aren't. They are slightly water repellent but they won't hold up under really wet conditions.
Answered on 2/9/2018 9:54:58 AM by janno from Colorado
    • I don’t know. However, I always spray a waterproofed on all my shoes. These shoes are ultra comfortable and I believe very attractive for slip on hiking shoes. Great tread on the sole of the shoes, too.

    • I haven't been caught in rain with these but I will say they have a thick sole and seem to be sealed nicely.I hope that helps

    • No they are not waterproof.

    • No just a leather shoe. Can put a coating on them but they are a nice leather shoe.

    • I’m not sure I wouldn’t count on it. I know my Merrel’s weren’t .

    • I have not worn them outside to test them in any rain yet but I do not think they are any less moisture-wicking than any other suede shoe. If you walk in rain I would expect them to get a little wet. Hope that answers your question.
Answered on 2/9/2018 12:49:03 PM by Yosemite girl from California
    • The sole is waterproof, but the suede is porous, and will get wet quickly. You could try spraying it with a waterproofing spray.
Answered on 2/9/2018 3:41:14 PM by Beach Walker from Jersey Shore
    • No. They are suede so you really don't want to get them wet. They will stain. With that said, I have been out in the snow with the, just not wet sticky snow.

  • “Is the toe box on the wide or normal size ? Hi Tec can be either. Thank you”
Asked by k9tchr from NH on 12/5/2017 6:52:45 AM
    • It seemed to be normal. The shoe itself, however, runs small.
Answered on 12/5/2017 7:30:53 AM by twomutts from Northern NY
    • Normal
Answered on 12/5/2017 9:08:06 AM by JDiM from Ohio
    • I would say the toe box is generous (comfortably wide) but not too big. I ordered a size 9 and have plenty of room without sliding around. I have worn with thin, medium, and heavy socks and the shoe accommodates them all. I wear a 9 in some shoes and 8.5 in others. My heel does not slip in these either. I can't wear many loafers because of heel slippage. I did not also order the 8.5 size so I can't be certain how those would have worked.

    • I ordered my regular size and they just overall felt to tight and I would have ordered up at least a half a size but there were no more so I had to return. They are really nice and well made shoes. I wish they would have fit me better.

    • I would say it’s normal. About the same as Merrel Jungle Mocs.
Answered on 12/5/2017 5:38:17 PM by Michgirl from Michigan
    • True to size. Toe box is roomy with a thick sock, but not overly so. I normally go up a 1/2 size from 7 to 7.5 in winter boots so I can wear a thicker sock. My feet are narrow at the heel and wider at the ball with normal length toes except one 2nd toe is slightly longer and everything feels good. I have a high instep and used a shoehorn to put them on but my foot so far does not feel any discomfort, however I haven’t walked any distance yet.

About Hi-Tec

After retiring from the Dutch Air Force and moving to England in the mid-1970s, the enterprising Frank Van Wezel decided to create the world’s first pair of Hi-Tec shoes designed specifically for playing squash. The idea was a hit, and it wasn’t long before Frank’s company had grown to include a full selection of Hi-Tec boots, shoes and sandals. Today, after nearly four decades of footwear innovation, Hi-Tec hiking boots, tennis shoes and sneakers deliver the best mix of support, comfort and style for people who live for adventure.
