Many snow boots keep you dry but can be treacherous when you hit a bit of ice. The Hi-Tech Trooper boots are comfortable to walk in for distance, and have great traction.

At clearance prices it's a steal. Vibram outsole means more durable longer lasting than low price/quality boots. All leather (smooth finish) uppers looks and feels good. Fit & Finish of this book looks very good to me for a mass produced China boot. Hi-Tec books always seem like a good mid-range value priced boot to me. I'm a 9.5 male size with a normal D wide size although since I'm not running track in winter boots or summer hiking boots I like a little extra space for comfort and a heavy sock option so I often order 1/2 size up as I did with these. size 10 gives me plenty of room in this toe box area. If you like a secure snug fit or have a narrow foot just order your normal size. I just got these boots and have only worn them inside house so I can't speak to long-term durability or winter warmth.

Excellent boots. Nice and cushioned and plenty of insulation to keep you warm in the winter. Very comfortable and I like the style!

This boot is breaking down after 3 months of use on trails in the bush. This boot is very poor quality. The vinyl is flaking and has split between the sole and the vinyl trim of the upper. They are leaking water.

  • “How well does gore-Tex insulate? Or does it at all”
Asked by Shinny bob from Wooded trails of norther indiana on 1/2/2017 11:24:06 PM
    • Gore-Tex is a waterproofing system, and not an insulator (that being said, these boots have Hi-Tec's own Dri-Tec waterproofing, which so far seems to work quite well). For insulation, these boots feature 200G Thinsulate. Not as heavy as a hunting boot (600-1200G), but with a warm sock my feet have stayed very toasty (even to the point where - if I have to wear them inside for any length of time - e.g. a restuarant - my feet actually get quite warm).

I bought them to work outside in the winter, but so far I like the looks of them so much I don't wanna mar them on a jobsite. They are also VERY lightweight.

    • Gore-Tex is not an insulator, it is a waterproofing membrane. The insulation is 200g Thinsulate®.

About Hi-Tec

After retiring from the Dutch Air Force and moving to England in the mid-1970s, the enterprising Frank Van Wezel decided to create the world’s first pair of Hi-Tec shoes designed specifically for playing squash. The idea was a hit, and it wasn’t long before Frank’s company had grown to include a full selection of Hi-Tec boots, shoes and sandals. Today, after nearly four decades of footwear innovation, Hi-Tec hiking boots, tennis shoes and sneakers deliver the best mix of support, comfort and style for people who live for adventure.
