weak fabricReviewed by jen from new mexico on Tuesday, September 25, 2018i wanted to love this pack, but where the seams are, the stitching is coming out. the buckles are pulling loose from where they are attached on the pack. the foam in the shoulder straps has pulled out from its attachment and is sliding down... so where the shoulder straps meet the bag is thin now... only fabric. i wouldn't use this for heavy loads or to carry skis... i think the straps would pull straight out of the pack... it might work as a cheap and lightweight laptop bag... provided you have a light laptop.
Nice bag at a great priceVerified Buyer Reviewed by SJG from NYC on Tuesday, April 3, 2018I'll get to some details but you can't say anything about this bag without mentioning the color. It is bright. And there's no way around it. The green is incredibly bright and the red seems to make it stand out even more. May be an asset in low visibility conditions.
The pack is pretty well made. The zippers are burly and can probably take more abuse than the rest of the materials that seem fine but not extraordinary for a pack this size. The fabric is very light and there's no frame to speak of so the pack overall doesn't weigh too much.
I haven't had it out on the mountain yet so I can't speak about how the insulated sleeve for the drinking tube works in low temperatures but this feature is the reason I bought the pack. It seems like it's better than nothing but in frigid weather I'm not sure it will work unless you take frequent sips to keep the water moving. I like ow the straps for carry skis and snowboards stow away. When skiing or riding lifts, I'm never that comfortable with straps hanging off the pack and this keeps that problem to a minimum. The main compartment is the size you'd expect in a pack this size. It's not cavernous but is right-sized to keep the load from growing away from your back. There are a number of sleeves for back-country gear and some common sense compartments for keys, wallet, etc. The water reservoir has a completely separate section which is essential although I think it could have worked more simply as a section of the main compartment than requiring it's own zippered section. The outer panel can fit a helmet or a jacket but the pocket isn't deep so it's not very secure for anything smaller. This panel has a velcro closure on the bottom that can be opened although I'm not sure what you'd want hanging through there. Maybe a shovel handle but that seems awkward to have it dangling down between your legs. The should straps are pretty heavily padded and there's a removable pouch that just fits my iphone SE. I don't know that it would fit a much larger phone. The waist strap is fine but not padded at all. It seems less robust than some other components and inexplicably doesn't have the glove/mitten friendly clasp design that the chest strap has. There's also a very large soft pocket that could easily fit a pair of goggles while offering some lens protection.
Overall, this is a very good pack and at the current STP prices it's hard to fault it for anything.
So far so goodVerified Buyer Reviewed by GHM from Pacific NW on Wednesday, February 28, 2018Pack feels great, I love the integrated hydration tube insulation (and the bright colors). The places for stowing unneeded straps are a good idea, but I think the execution will be a bit better next go-round. Carries everything I need to a good day on the trails, with enough pockets for flexibility but not so many that it micro-manages my gear. There may be something to other reviewers' thoughts about durability, but my pack is new and I haven't had any problems. However, I can see some places where stitches may already be weak. But for a $20 pack, I'm ok with that.
Great for the priceVerified Buyer Reviewed by Wannabe Ski Bum from Utah on Wednesday, December 27, 2017Great for the price. Got for my daughter to be able to pack her skis. She got a much higher quality one for Christmas, so this one is going back.

Buckle broke before useReviewed by Tom from Cambridge on Saturday, November 18, 2017I got this pack at the end of last season and w/i a week (never using) the top left buckle broke away from its mount on the material. I think I can rig it to to work and try it this season, but given that I'd never taken it outside (despite the great price), I'd expect a bit more than that for an item designed to be worn in tough to harsh conditions.

High Sierra Symmetry Ski PackVerified Buyer Reviewed by Matt the Skier from NC,, skiing in Jackson and Whistler on Thursday, January 26, 2017I love everything about this pack. Its the perfect size, I like how some of the straps can be tucked in while not in use, and it carries a pair of skis great while allowing easy loading and unloading. However, I used it for just 5 days (2 as a carry on while traveling, and 3 on the slopes for some in bounds hiking) and it started to show some wear. Specifically, the fabric at both corners of the slot used to tuck away the upper ski strap started to tear and the fabric along the inside corner of that slot started to come away from the zipper towards the top center.
I sewed it myself, if that holds I would be willing to give 3 stars. I love the way it worked, but unfortunately with that kind of wear showing up that quickly, I can't give more than 2 stars at the moment.
