OK, these are just the cuuuutest hiking shoes I've ever seen. I've been buying the really expensive ones -- Vasque, Columbia, Asolo -- but I hike in steep rocky terrain pretty much every day & they last me one season. So I saw these & figured, I'll try them. Certainly can't beat the price, & if the... Read More

I bought this after my $3 thrift store boots fell apart during the first hiking trip! I've have been hiking about ~70 miles wearing this boots and I don't have any complaints. No blisters so far and very competitive price! I would buy again.

These we're much clunky for me and not very comfortable.

I was excited to receive these boots...good looking, but WAY too small...I ordered a size 10 since I wear a size 9.5 normally...I could barely fit my feet into the boots...they were marked size 10 in the boots...I read the reviews before ordering them...most people said they fit true to size...of course, I get the pair that is marked incorrectly...The Sierra Trading Post representative was very nice and was willing to work with me to find a pair that fit correctly...but this was the second hiking boot that I had delivered that did not fit well...sigh...I just sent them back and gave up...I am jealous of folks who can buy a pair of boots online and have them fit.

i read other reviews and decided to buy a pair for myself size 10 and my daughter size 8. for the price you can't beat these. Lightweight , waterproof and very comfortable. We both like the wider toe box no pinching , great with a pair of wool sock.

I was very pleased with the fit and comfort of these boots from the start. No break in period was required. I bought them to use in my snow shoes . I wanted something light weight and waterproof. They are true to size and width. I had a toe joint replacement and have needed wider shoes with plenty of room in the toe box. These are PERFECT!!!Love Them. very comfortable to wear every day doing errands in the snow.

  • “Are they durable? Would they be good to hike applachian trail”
Asked by Home from Alabama (AL) on 1/25/2017 12:36:01 PM
    • Depends on how much of it you plan to hike. Serious hiking boots, which these are not, might last 500 miles, but it would depend on the terrain & how much you were carrying. You should probably talk to someone at a place like REI about the best shoes for an extended hike, especially if you are new to hiking. Don't go into a hike of potentially over a thousand miles in a pair of 30-dollar shoes.

    • I've only had these since the new year. I'm a day hiker, I cannot comment on the applachian trail if you are planning to hike all of it .

    • I have only had them for a month, but they seem durable.

    • Depends if you are looking to do a part of the trail. This is a good starter boot, not for something you would do the entire length of the trail.

  • “Are they good for hiking? Are they slippery? Because I am starting to hike and I need some that I will not slip in... What about climbing rocks too?”
Asked by Home from Alabama (AL) on 1/24/2017 5:19:46 PM
    • They are good for hiking. They are not slippery. You can climb "on" or over rocks, but not really "up" rocks; these are not rock-climbing shoes per se.
Answered on 1/24/2017 5:48:48 PM by deenibeeni from Sugarloaf
    • Yes they are good for hiking.Very nice and light weight. So far I've walked in rain, sleet and snow on rough ground. Yes I guess you could scramble on rocks too but they are a hiking boot so a higher cut around the ankle so not the flexibility of a hiking or rock climbing shoe.
Answered on 1/25/2017 4:59:46 AM by sharon from CT
    • Also try hiking poles if you have concerns about slipping.
Answered on 1/25/2017 5:01:18 AM by sharon from CT
    • I have not hiked in them but do hike in the summer and believe they would be good. They have a good tread and would likely not slip. I wear them on ice and snow and have not slipped yet. I also believe they would be nonslippery on rocks.
Answered on 1/25/2017 8:25:00 AM by Dusty the Runner from Colorado
    • Yes, these are designed for hiking, they have pretty good traction, but they are not specifically designed for rock climbing.

  • “These boots look great! However, would they be good for cold weather? I'm going to be hiking in Ireland for a few days, so I'm wanting to take these overseas for everyday use in cities and hiking in March.”
Asked by hiker123 from Indiana on 12/2/2016 8:18:31 PM
    • Well, these are not snow boots. I'd expect them to do really well in wet conditions, but if you look at the specs, there is mention of padding but not actual insulation. I got these for 3-season hiking in dry conditions; in winter I wear snow boots because of the thermal protection like Thinsulate lining & midsole liner as well as special cold-resistant rubber outsoles, & it all makes a huge difference. These may not be the best choice if you expect to be out in freezing temps for long periods. Wet, chilly weather; or shorter periods very low temps, I think would be okay. No shortage of wool socks in Ireland, so there's that.
Answered on 12/2/2016 8:52:40 PM by deenibeeni from Sugarloaf, CA
