Attractive and great qualityVerified Buyer Reviewed by Juniper from California on Saturday, July 28, 2018Perfect to organize my closet. They seem sturdy but are natural materials so need some care. I wouldn't use with kids. When you unwrap them there's some loose debris. Unpack outside unless you need to vacuum anyway.
Quality baskets at a great price!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Strathcona from California on Saturday, January 20, 2018Got these to get my living room organized. The medium and small fit on the bottom shelf of my coffee table. Makes storing of magazines and other things nice and tidy. Great baskets!

What's the "shelf-life" of such items ? (Expect to replace it within months, from ordinary ambient dust? Or, clean it - If so, how? (Beyond preventative dusting.)
FRAGILITY: Maybe, it's the set that just arrived - crack at vertical edge - Can't be sure if because of lack of cushioning in shipment. Or: It's so dry, it may have just cracked. Either way, not appealing. (It's not just an edge where loose-end was woven through. Those have different appearance.)
Maybe this is something which is best within a certain humidity-range? This seems too dried-out for any practical n purpose, as if it's going to continue to crack - then crumble?
I'd welcome info that would help me choose whether to keep/exchange (vs return this set) - and if seagrass containers etc are best for certain climates/environments/purposes - vs it depends on manufacturer etc.
Thank you for clarifications”
“These questions are to help me to decide whether to keep these. (Practicalities [& visual appeal] of this item are why I chose it over similarly-purposed others.)
However, upon unpacking...
Questions (plural) about the aroma/smell:
Description included "earthy, natural appeal" - which I had interpreted as design (visual). Hadn't expected a tobacco-like smell.
Is this from the water hyacinth?
Or, something in the production process? - additive? (Insecticide? fire-retardent? preservative?
Are all (contemporary) sea-grass items like this? (Or, from this manufacturer?)
How long does it take for the "aroma" to dissipate? (Different answers, please, for if able to place it in sunlight several hours/day vs keeping indoors (with only the benefit of mechanical air filter that absorbs particles/molecules(?) within certain size)? (I may get added benefit from a "natural de-odorizer: The kind of product, usually aerosol that chemically bonds with "offensive" molecules. (I have several, non-toxic brands; they're great for bathroom-use.)
If I can get past this issue, My other questions (re durability) are posted next.
