Pan Fry

Tried this out at home before I hit the trail and I found that letting the mixture hydrate for about an hour before you pan fry it works great. It does seam to take for ever for rehydrating but adding a table spoon of water (or more) while frying seems necessary. Tastes great.

  • Hard to make.

I have had quit a few of this flavor. The Huevos Rancheros is the worst breakfast they make. The Beans are always rock hard, no matter how long I wait fir them to hydrate. Often it takes so long its cold by the time I eat it. The eggs are also very hard to get the perfect amount of water. Either eggy water or powder. After a few days out I went hungry rather than try and eat these again. The directions mention pan frying after hydrating. Maybe for car camping but impossible for backpacking.
