Received mine today and promptly examined it and tested it by splitting a 12" long scrap of 4"x8" douglas fir. I believe the flaws are cosmetic.     Received mine today and promptly examined it and tested it by splitting a 12" long scrap of 4"x8" douglas fir. I believe the flaws are cosmetic. My ax had some tooling marks on the handle and probably could have used another coat of linseed oil. The manufacturer's logo stamp on the ax-head was also uneven. Otherwise the ax worked very well and the handle had even grain.
