5.0 out of 5 stars. Old school qualityVerified Buyer Reviewed by Ageing athelete from New Hampshire on Sunday, January 12, 2020I needed a small axe that I could use to split my already split firewood into smaller pieces. This axe fits the bill. Well balanced, forged iron head and a perfectly sized handle and weight. Comes with a nice leather sheath that covers the head. These axes retail I around $ 130.00 or more. Buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars. Practical sizeVerified Buyer Reviewed by volsmith from nashville on Tuesday, September 17, 2019So the axe arrived in a nice box with a nice 'scabbard' over the cutting edge. It is bigger than a hatchet and smaller than what I would call an 'axe'. It is perfect for splitting small stuff for my smoker that my hatchet has trouble with. The head was roughly formed, with a poorly stamped seal from the mgf, BUT it is a hunk of steel used to violently slam into wood, and not a show piece. It worked great on some 6" thick hickory rounds for my smoker. A lot faster than using my hydraulic splitter for that. I think it is perfect for lighter splitting work. The head doesn't get stuck very often due to the ridges on the side. the handle is raw hickory and I added some linseed oil to it. It isn't rough to me like other reviews stated, just unfinished. I think it is a good tool.
