I think because of the snugness I feel the seams and the tongue of the shoe pressing against my feet. My toes go right to the end. I don't know whether ordering up a 1/2 size would make a difference, though because there is slippage in the heel. Very odd fit. There is no cushioning whatsoever so they can be uncomfortable.
