I am 5'4'' and 120lbs (on a good day!) I got the smalls and they fit pretty snug when I fit put them on, but then they contoured to my body and turned into a perfect fit. Highly recommend!

Icebreaker offers this underwear in both light and medium weight. Get both and you are set for any cold day. Icebreaker quality is always fine.

Incredibly warm, perfect. Soft. Held up to a hiking trip on Superior's North Shore in Minnesota - kept me warm when the temperatures started to dip.

It sometimes takes some trial and error to find the right fit for some Icebreaker items, but initially the large in these fit perfectly: right length, not too tight, and the rise was perfect, so the waistband stayed up around my waist when I bent over. I washed these according to the instructions, and they shrunk. Too short, too tight, and the rise was too low, so the waistband didn't stay in place. I've never had that happen with any other Icebreaker items, although this is the first time I'd tried their leggings. Disappointing, because initially the fit was ideal and very comfortable. I'll try their leggings again, but a different version. Good customer service from Sierra Trading Post on the return so far, though, which is appreciated.

Just what I was looking for, wool base layer with no synthetics! Very comfortable, not itchy, and forgiving fit with the elastic waist. I'm 5'2" and the length is fine.

  • “I am considering buying this product for a winter hike in the Appalachain and I wanted your input as to wether you think they would be warm enough since they are lightweight? Also I am 5'2 and 110 lbs so would you suggest a small or an extra small? Thanks!”

    • Hi, I am happy to answer your questions. I bought a small because the XS was not offered. Glad I did.The small fit me perfectly. It is not skintight nor is it sloppy or loose. Our height and weight is nearly identical, so I would suggest buying a small.
Your other question is harder to answer because there are so many variables i.e. temperature ranges, quality and properties of outer layer. As long as the temperature is above freezing and you are generating body heat by hiking or moving, and you have a breathable windproof outer layer I think you should be fine. I have not hiked in the Appalachian nor do I know yoru personal preferences so this is a guess based on my own experience. Have fun!

About Icebreaker
