Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Reviewed by The FedEx guy from Monument, CO on Friday, February 8, 2013I drive for FedEx in the Foothills & mountains & live at high elevation. I wear these boots on icy & snow slick days. Since I run all day & frequently carry heavy packages in all weather conditions these boots are a lifesaver - no more going down on ice. Not only do they make my job safer but it increases my productivity during inclement conditions. The boots are tight but support my ankles extremely well. The light weight keeps me running all day. Can't say enough good about them. (Don't walk on vinyl or wood floors with these - the wife gets a little upset).
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Griz from Catskills of NY on Sunday, January 27, 2013Great on icy trails. Gives me the confidence to be out in the woods in icy conditions. This is important to me as I took a 130 foot fall, loosing 65 feet in elevation, when I slipped on the ice one time! Glad I ordered a 1/2 size large as they would be too snug other wise. Warm and comfortable with light wool hiking socks even when the weather is in the teens.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by thomasaur from Grand Canyon, AZ on Thursday, January 3, 2013I almost returned these boots because they felt a bit too narrow. However I wore them with simple cotton socks and they were just fine. Being used to hiking socks in my boots I found that these were plenty warm without heavier socks. And their snug fit actually was a bonus when negotiating icy surfaces.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by lechien from chugiak, AK on Sunday, December 2, 2012I really like the grip of these boots but they were small for my foot. I ordered a larger size and hope it fixes that issue.
Wish they worked better 'indoors' as it is difficult to determine if I want to fall outside or inside or switch boots each time I come in or out of a building.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Philip.AK from Coastal Alaska on Saturday, December 1, 2012I own a lot of pairs of Icebugs. Living in coastal Alaska we get lots of ice in the winter. While Icebugs won't make you immune to slipping, they do help a lot. On ice near freezing, traction is quite good though it drops off as temps get colder and the ice gets harder and the carbide pins are less able to penetrate. Most of my Icebugs so far have been running shoes, but I also have a pair of the Metros which are the low, pull-on boots. What I really wanted was a pair of light hikers, and these fit the bill nicely. The sole is the same as on the running shoes, but is plenty supportive and offers good lugs for snow in addition to the carbide ice studs. The insulation is minimal but enough for temps in the 20 F range. Probably lower if you keep walking. The ankle support is basic. A single eyelet and thin material at the ankle helps, but is probably not enough for serious treks. I just use them on trails near town. Waterproofing is excellent. I have walked in some serious puddles with no hint of moisture getting in. Sizing is spot on and will accommodate medium weight wool socks. A great product.

“Will these boots hold up to stress under rocky conditions. I'm finding a few pair of boots I've tried are falling apart during summer hikes in Colorado mountains.”
