These man boots weigh a couple of lbs each, but then you won't find a serious boot like this weighing less. I ordered a size up and wide and am grateful for the extra room. My feet, like most, swell during very long hikes and there is nothing worse than your toes banging against the end of the boot on every step. Also, the extra room will make wearing heavy winter socks a non-issue. The boots appear sturdily designed and nicely/thoughtfully crafted. The toe is hard, but not a composite.

German/Italian made hunting/backpacking boots, almost exactly like these, cost 350-500 dollars... Couldn't handle that when I could buy these boots at a 1/4 of that price range. Anyway, time well tell how these boots perform in tough terrain and nasty conditions.

BTW: I was surprised to see that Irish Setter is now owned by Red Wing.
