I ordered this jacket in red, "Dried Tomato", sz small. For ref, I am 5'4'', 116#.
Pros: Beautiful red color, that the pic online doesnt do justice. The quality of finish and fabric is Wolfskin topnotch. The sizing is appropriate.BTW, the hood is detachable. The QA on this site says it is not. As one reviewer has mentioned and Jack Wolfskin website says, it is detachable. This detail was important to me. The jacket seems do excellent job of keeping you warm. The design is not so top notch!. The upper arm/ shoulder down baffle are large, almost makes me look like a Michellen man. Lower half of the jacket is shaped( feminine) properly. The very design of increasing width of baffle for the top part of the jacket makes this aspect of the design, very poor aesthetic sense and contributes to shoulder and upper arm looking way puffed up. The sleeves are little to long and adds to bunching up. I bought this for backpacking trip at 17K feet and it would serve its function well, but I am not certain I want to keep it. Although described as "lightweight" its not a packable jacket.

This is the second coat I have purchased,( just to have another color) Warm throughout our Iowa winters, but light enough for Spring and Fall. Fits great, but I purchased the large in these although I usually wear a medium.(5ft2,130#) Not too puffy or shiny. The hood is warm, adjustable and not too big. Just a great, high quality item.

It is warm but not sweaty-warm. The sleeves are long enough. The zipper purrs rather than clicks and skips. The neck collar is so soft and warm, but unzip a few inches when you work up some heat and your temperature is well regulated. Only two pockets (no interior) helps to keep things simple. The hood can be adjusted to your head buy a pull toward the back. It's warmth and protection is welcome when the wind blows and the snow snows. Great jacket.

One of the best clothing purchases I've made! This jacket is high in every detail: fabric, design, stitching. I wanted a lightweight, non-bulky jacket with a hood for horseback trail riding On windy winter days, and this one is perfect. Love the color also - versatile, yet bright. One tiny wish: inner pocket for phone or keys.

  • “Is the hood helmet-compatible?”
Asked by Aguilar from Portland, Oregon on 10/10/2016 10:09:22 AM
    • Just received this jacket in the mail. To answer my own question, it is helmet compatible. Just tried it on with my snowboarding helmet, fits well. Slightly boxier look in the shoulders when worn with the hood attached with a helmet. Also, the hood IS removable!

  • “Is there any water resistance in the exterior of jacket?”
Asked by biker mom from ohio on 3/30/2016 12:28:47 PM
    • I checked the Jack Wolfskin website and found a similar jacket made with the same outer fabric that states: "STORMLOCK: very light, windproof, breathable and water resistant fabric." I don't remember if my wife's coat had a tag on it that said "water resistant" or "DWR" or something to that effect, but I'm pretty sure it did.
Answered on 3/30/2016 5:11:54 PM by TM from SD
    • The tags read that it is water resistant. However, I doubt if it would stand up to a persistent rain. It would be great in snow, however, and is very cozy.

    • I am really pleased with the comfort of this jacket, though I haven't tested in rain at all. It's definitely windproof! It's extremely warm, lightweight and comfortable...the best parka I've owned. The only thing it doesn't have, and I wish it did, is an inside pocket.

    • This item has some water resistance, but is not waterproof.

    • I have only worn my jacket when there was very light precipitation. It is water resistant for the weather conditions I encountered. I really love to wear my jacket on days when I don't need a heavy coat but the temperatures are still chilly.
