I was in need of some waterproof snow boots. A friend of mine recently got the Joan of Artic boots by Sorrel and I just loved the style of them! I looked into the Joan of Artic boots and they were way too expensive for the use I would get out of them. So I shopped around and found these in the grey.... Read More

  • Now I love winter!

AWESOME boots! Cute enough to dress up but durable enough for mild chores. Have worn on many long walks and never had a blister or cold toe. Normally wear a size 8 and they fit great, enough room for a thicker sock but not too big with just a little athletic sock either. Love them.
  • How do I love these boots.......

I have been searching for winter boots for the past 3 years. Too stiff, too loose, too tall, too short, too big, too small, not waterproof or snow proof. I could go on and on, but I seem to have done that already.
As always with Sierra Trading Post, a Speedy delivery; in fact my new Jambus arrived the day before a serious North Eastern snow blizzard, and sup-zero temperatures. The ultimate test for any snow boot and this one passed with flying colors! No 'breaking in' time here, but none needed. They were and are, comfortable, waterproof - not water resistant, warm and so great looking people on the street stop and ask me about them. Love 'em, Love 'em Love 'em!

I recently purchased these boots on sale, received free shipping, and paid about $70 less than I normally would have! The best part is that these boots are the best pair that I own (and I own a lot of boots). They stand up to the snow, they are tall and warm, I LOVE them!

These JBU are a traditional PAC boot with a removable liner. The fur is just on the cuff; the rest is a typical wool or felt deal. They are very warm and I assume the liner would be replaceable provided you could find something the right size. I tried on some Sorels (Jane of Arctic) and other Jambus, and it seemed that both could have a decent fit, but no stores actually had the size I needed in stock. I was lucky to see these on STP on clearance and in the size I needed (8.5). It was nice that there are half sizes in this model; not all brands or all styles do that for this kind of boot. I should say that I have a wide toe box and a long second toe, which often makes finding the right shoes difficult. I usually wear an 8.5 Wide running shoe (Brooks) and I wear Salomon Quest hiking boots, size 8. The regular width 8.5 did fine for me in these, and I wanted them to be large enough to accommodate a thicker winter sock. These might be too wide for some folks; for me, they seem about right, but don't expect them to be nimble like a hiking boot. That's not what these are for. They are great for cold walks in the snow and slush. The liners quickly conform to your foot and they find their right niche in the boot. When you first put them on, they feel a little weird. But once you wear them for a few hours, everything seems to mold itself. I've warn these near 0 degrees, with negative wind chills, up to about 30 degrees. They've been excellent, and my feet have not been cold or wet. While wearing these for a 2 mile walk in 4 degree weather, my feet were happy. My legs above the boot were very cold, as I was only wearing one layer, but that clearly showed me the boots work. As far as I have worn them, I've had no water issues, but we have not had very deep snow, and it was so cold, conditions were icy but not wet. The tread is better than I thought it would be on the sole, which is a bit hard (not exactly vibrum rubber, but ok and very stable). The rubber on the top of the boot is surprisingly flexible. (Some cheaper boots with this kind of look are really hard; these are comfortable). The fake leather looks good and is soft and windproof. I got these for a 1/4 of the price of the Sorels, and I think that will be just fine for me.
