The Jetboil GCS worked great while camping in Yellowstone N.P. Did have a problem with the electric ignitor not sparking during the 15 degree mornings, but also had issues with butane lighters at those temps. Would like to have the ability to adjust the flame, but overall the GCS is a great cooking system.

I am the coordinator for an outdoor program. The best thing about this set from Jetboil is the simplicity and efficiency. We need gear that does not have a lot of parts to clean or parts that are easily damaged. We also want cooksets that use fuel efficiently since we are often cooking for large groups. This product delivers in both of those areas. It is just the right size for backpacking on a 3-5 day trip, but also suitable for longer or shorter adventures.

I had read all the reviews and expected great things from this product. I still underestimated it! It took about 2-3 minutes to heat the pot of water and once it started boiling, I went to lower it but the boil actually accelerated in the time it took to get my hand on the knob!

I used a match instead of the push button ignite. Once it was bent slightly, the push button sparked and ignited the flame. Took about one second to adjust it though lighting with a match is simple and easy too!

The only draw back is that the larger canister of fuel does not fit into the pot with the lid on. With the small canister everything fits in the pot and closes up into one tidy little package.

The flame adjusts from very faint to raging! Awesome product! I am glad to be able to cook and not jsut boil wwater on camping trips!

    • Yes, it does! Push button ignite. It didn't work on first push so the wire had to be bent (took about one second to fix) and it sparks and flames with no problem now!

About Jetboil

Jetboil founders Dwight Aspinwall and Perry Dowst were fed-up with carrying around heavy, chunky stoves on their backcountry endeavors. In 2001, they took the matter into their own hands; Aspinwall and Dowst began Jetboil, a company dedicated to creating innovative cooking systems for backcountry adventurers. All Jetboil stove designs are based on the fact that compact, lightweight, fuel-efficient cooking systems depend on increased heat-transfer efficiency. Jetboil stove designs are subjected to intense field testing in the mountains and at the lab to ensure that you get the most efficient lightweight backpacking stove out there. The result of years of testing and inventing, Jetboil stoves are reliable, compact, unique and user friendly.
