wide foot star

I've had a pair of Voyageur's and decided to try this all leather waterproof boot based on my satisfaction with the Voyageur fit. I normally have to order size 10, width 4E to account for my wide forefoot and I wear custom orthotics for a high arch. These Erickson PCT boots are all leather with a waterproof sleeve. I had to stretch the right boot just the tiniest bit. (Perhaps adequate break-in time would have done the job but I'm not that patient.) I walk on the PCT (north of H58 near Tehachapi) about 3 times a week for conditioning and these boots are excellent. Obviously, much more support than my mid cut Voyageurs. I wholeheartedly endorse these boots if you're interested in serious support and anticipate a need for waterproof boots (like hiking the PCT in Oregon and Washington). By the way, I emailed Keen about reviews I see commenting on rapid wear of their boot tread. Keen responded forthrightly that their boots are compounded with a softer material to provide more traction. They have no plans to harden their soles so be advised. Also, I find their shoe sizing to be accurate.
