great for the priceVerified Buyer Reviewed by Lea from Michigan on Thursday, April 16, 2015I got two of these tents for a recent trip to Kentucky Red River Gorge for spring break. They are a breeze to set up and they are not overly heavy. The price was right and they are the "starter set" gear I purchased for my boys for their first backpacking tents. Both boys are 6'3 and 220 and 240 lbs and they fit in these tents just fine. I did not get the footprint and probably should before another use. We had rain every night and they did not get wet. We did however have significant dew because there was just so much moisture in the air and in the ground I really don't think there was any way to not have dampness. In the morning the floors were damp and the walls of the tent itself were damp. I am pretty new to all things camping/backpacking so I am not sure if an aftermarket waterproofing product would cure that problem or if it is just the nature of things in the great outdoors. I intend to research this prior to future use however. For the price I couldn't be happier. The quality appears to be good as the zippers worked well and as I said set up was a breeze. We had assembled them once in the middle of the living room prior to our trip and set up the first night at 10 pm with the light of head lamps and had no issues whatsoever.
fabulous for priceVerified Buyer Reviewed by getcampn from all over on Saturday, April 11, 2015This tent is just fabulous for the price you pay. Bathtub style floor, two pole set up and full cover rain fly. I am glad I purchased this tent and you will be too.
Couldn't be happier!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Kelli from Durham, NC on Thursday, April 9, 2015The tent was exactly what I was looking for and a great bargain for what I bought it at! Stormed like crazy our first night, and not a drop went through the cover. It's attractive, easy to assemble, and sturdy. My only concern would be that it's not the absolute lightest out there, so if you're looking to do a lot of back county hiking, for one, you may want to invest in another option. However, it is a two person tent!!! If one carried the poles and stakes and cover, and the other carried the actual tent, it's totally manageable!
Great TentVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anon from MS on Monday, March 9, 2015Great tent and price. No problems at all.
great!!Verified Buyer Reviewed by McBells from Ohio on Saturday, February 28, 2015My husband and I love this tent. Great for our backpacking trips. It's small to carry and lightweight. Absolutely worth the price!
Great 2 man tent!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Buck from Wyoming on Friday, February 27, 2015You're getting more than enough tent for the buck. This is a simple design, which allows for a quick and easy set up. The tent is light for its size, yet it is also built from quality fabric. It looks like the welds are well done, although I haven't put it to the test yet.
TentVerified Buyer Reviewed by mandy from Utah on Friday, February 27, 2015Love how easy this tent is to set up!
nice tent as advertisedVerified Buyer Reviewed by utah j from utah on Wednesday, February 18, 2015perfect for a single adult male- one door/one vestibule is ok for a single occupant. that said, the tent is fine quality materials- DAC poles, quick-easy set up and even has gear loft included. perfect for 3 season use- and just over 4.5 lbs packed.
Good value tentVerified Buyer Reviewed by RoyV from Carson on Tuesday, February 10, 2015Can't beat the tent for the price. I've looked high and low for an 1) affordable, 2) lightweight, 3) 2-person tent and could never come up with a tent that checks all three boxes (affordable 2 person tents are usually not lightweight, and lightweight 2-person tents are usually not affordable). Came up with a good deal on the Salida 2. Haven't really tried the tent yet, but I'm confident it will live up to my expectations.

“As a first time backpacker, I am currently on the hunt for a tent to take with me on hikes. I think that this is the tent I would like to purchase, but have a few questions:
1. About how large is the tent when it is compact/folded up?
2. About how many nights could you spend in this tent (how durable is it)?
3. What is the #1 dislike about this tent?
“Any chance you can confirm which version this is? There is a new version (for 2014 or 2015) that is green and has higher sidewalls, at a cost of slightly higher weight. ”
This was a 2014 Model.
this item looks very similar to the picture on todays STP website- it weighs 4lb 10 oz in the stuff sack with stakes- no footprint.
the base is light brown and the fly is a light tanish with orange tabs. nice tent
“Does this tent come with a loft and footprint?”
This does not have a footprint, but there are loops in the top for a gear loft.
