Whoever wrote the description for this crew neck shirt did not have a sample available when they wrote the review. This is perhaps the heaviest base layer that I own, and I probably own thirty to forty base layer shirts made by Patagonia, MH, Marmot, Terramar, etc. I am 6 ft 3 in and I weigh 235 (yes I sag in the middle). I bought four 2XL size shirts and I don't regret it. They are so warm and comfortable. I washed and dried them before I wore them and I do think that they shrank in the dyer. That is why I ordered 2XL size for this shirt. I don't want to worry about shrinking in the dryer. Some people have commented that the collar opening is too big. Yes it has an oversize collar opening. I really like the heavy weight, the softness, the stretchy fabric (40% nylon and spandex). The fabric is Polartec brand material. The shirts appear to be well constructed. I don't like wool or acrylic sweaters for many reasons. These shirts will be my winter shirts for wearing around the house and around town under a shell. Great value for the price.
